Aerobic Exercise also commonly called “cardio” is highly recommended and beneficial to general health because of its stimulating nature. These exercises stimulate the breathing and heart rate. This helps in the pumping of oxygenated blood throughout the body to working muscles. Aerobics is best at moderate intensity as this sustains a healthy breathing and heart rate. Overdoing an aerobic exercise leads to increased appetite, uncontrolled hunger and cravings. Examples are swimming, running, walking, hiking, dancing, kickboxing, water aerobics, and skiing among others.

Walking. This is the standard beginner aerobic exercise. It does not need any equipment apart from comfortable wear. It is not exclusive to a specific person. This is a great start for people with high BMIs (Body Mass Indexes) since it is easier to vary the intensity as per your fitness level. You can walk anywhere, both outdoors or even in the comfort of your own home on a treadmill.

Swimming. This is a fun way of losing weight since it is generally fun thus; the loss of calories will not be strenuous. This exercise only proves strenuous to none- swimmers and people with joint aches. Alternatively, such people can embark on water walking and water aerobics, which depend on water buoyancy thus reducing the stress exertion on joints.

Cycling. A stationary bicycle or a regular one may be used. It is an ideal exercise for people with joint problems like arthritis, those who can only walk for short periods without difficulty or pain. This exercise focus on the breathing and heart rate of an individual making it even healthier in terms of maintaining healthy body weight and the functions of the body organs. Additionally, it makes the person exert less pressure on the back, ankles, knees and hips making the workout last longer and are more effective.

Aerobic dancing. Did you know that dancing is a fun way to lose those calories? This is an all-around fitness exercise that is diverse and flexible since the dance moves will be in line with your preferred music genre preference. You can do it with a trainer or a group fitness class. Either of them will encourage you to keep going and make you focus on your main goal, which is to shed some weight.

All in all, ensure that your medical practitioner signs off on the exercise program before you begin; this is because we have different bodies and putting an equal amount of strain on everyone is not generally a good idea.
